The design is based on the indigenous birds of the headland of Ceann Sibéal near Dingle where filming of The Last Jedi took place in 2016. These birds 'Choughs" with their distinctive red beak and feet are quite rare around the coast of the West of Ireland. Great care was taken in advance of filming to map out the areas where the birds forraged so no disturbance would occur to their natural habitat for the duration of the set up and shoot.
