Paul Kelly started drawing and painting at an early age and has gone on to establish a wide reputation in Ireland and abroad.
Completely self taught, he paints in a conventional pre-impressionist style. Whilst known primarily for his Irish paintings Kelly expanded his portfolio with successful painting trips to Morocco, Prague, Budapest and Venice.
He has had many - sell out - solo exhibitions at the Gorry Gallery in Dublin and The Killarney Art Gallery in Co. Kerry and regularly exhibits at the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin - In 1991 he obtained the James Kennedy memorial award for portraiture and was a winner of the Ireland fund of Great Britain ‘Artist of the year’ award.
Works by him are included in many public and private collections including the National Self Portrait Collection of Ireland, The Fingal County Library, Brian P. Burns Collection USA.
